The Lowry
Paul’s take:
We have talked off and on about going to the Lowry for breakfast but, for some reason we never really jumped on it. Finally today we decided to try it, we should have listened to our instincts.
It was pretty late in the morning and when we arrived the place was very very busy. The hostess said it would be a half an hour wait and took down my phone number so they can send me a text when our table is ready. There was absolutely no place to sit in the bar or the lobby area of the restaurant so we went back out to my car and waited. At just about exactly 30 minutes I got the text that our table was ready. We went back in to the hostess stand and she sat us at a very tiny two top in the middle of the restaurant crammed in with lots of other tables
Server came over quick to say hi. She tried really hard to sell us on mimosas or bloody Marys or other alcohol. We ordered coffee and ice water.
This place is so effing loud and just packed with Bros.
It took a little while to get my coffee and it tasted horrible. I laughed out loud when I saw Jeanne’s coldpressed coffee. Jeanne was not going to drink her coffee and it took quite a while for me to try to flag down the waitress. The server almost seemed angry when Jeanne was questioning her about the drink.
We could just feel our regret growing for coming into this place.
I ordered the banana custard french toast with caramel sauce and whip cream, it was actually pretty good. $9.99

But, I also ordered a side of ham that was almost $5, it was thin, dry, cold and tasted like shit.

When we are done with our meal and the waitress finally came over with our ticket. The server apologized for being MIA. She said the messed up food at the next table took all of her attention away from us. (She’s trying for a tip here). The guy next to us sat longer than us for the whole meal without getting his food and finally the chef brought it out to him apologizing. The guy just sent it back disgusted and the chef said he would take care of the ticket.
Pretty expensive meal considering the only thing that was any good was my French toast. After we left the Lowry we had to stop for proper coffee at Up café.

I went to this restaurant seminar at a food show back about a decade ago and the guy talked about how a server will be attentive and do a good job all the way up until the end and then when they drop the ticket on the table they basically ignore your ass for the next 10-15 minutes. He called it "keeping the customer hostage" and that is something a lot of servers do. We got a little bit of that here after we got the bill.
I don’t see any need to come back here ever again.
25 out of 100 stars, the French toast was good
Jeanne's Take:
I hate this place. I'm never coming back.
